The main difference is that the second one is more in-line with the natural pace of our reading, which is much more convenient and aids comprehension.
With the first (un-parsed) clip, I found myself reading very quickly (due to the large amount of text), then pausing (unnaturally) and almost holding my breath, only to repeat those two steps again and again. This resulted in me not actually comprehending or retaining the information I was reading, but more reading just to read.
